As I have been watching too many romance type animes & a few movies and reading romance type mangas, I suddenly wondered how do I ask a girl to be my girlfriend in Japanese? Or perhaps the most common question, would you go out with me?
Here are some answers I found:
僕のガールフレンドになってくれる。
Boku no gaarufurendo ni natte kureru?
僕のガールフレンドになってくれますか。
Boku no gaarufurendo ni natte kuremasu ka?
僕と尽きあってくれませんか。
Boku to tsuki atte kuremasen ka?
僕とデートしてくれませんか。
Boku to DEETO shite kuremasen ka?
お付き合いさせてください。
Otsukiai sasete kudasai.
Can somebody tell me which one is correct? Or perhaps which one is the most suitable for the situation?
Each one mentioned above goes differently, the first one is like would you be my GF? the second goes like won’t you be my GF? the third i think is the one that means will you go out with me? the next is won’t you date with me? and the last means would you please go out with me? I am not sure with those translations as I only understood part of them and guessed the whole sentence by context clues. So…
Would someone be good enough to comment about this and help me? Thanks in advance.

The problem with running an anime blog (an English-language one at that) is that you’re unlikely to find many people with significant first-hand experience in that area among your readership
. Still, funny question. Not a native speaker of Japanese here, so ymmv.
I find that last line, お付き合いさせてください, to be pretty elegant, but it really means “let me come along with you” or something like that, in a respectful tone that’s only suitable when addressing an ojousama or a dignified lady.
〜くれませんか probably sounds too “supplicating” to be appropriate for the stated purpose. But 僕と付き合ってくれない? sounds fine. 僕とデートしてくれない? seems OK too.
You can also invite her to some specific activity. (一緒に)コーヒーとか飲みに行かない? for the coffee shop, or 映画とか見に行かない? for the theatre.
It’s possible to sound manlier, too. 俺と付き合ってくれよ! or something. Some might go so far as trying out lines like 君かわいいな。ラブホ行こうよ! I guess they don’t mind being slapped in the face, though.
Thanks for the very insightful comment.
そうですか。Actually, I just started my Japanese lessons although I’ve been into anime and such for a long time. So it was just now that I got interested in learning how express feelings such as asking a girl out.
As all I know are basic expressions, For your examples, I can only state them this way , (一緒に)きっさてんでコーヒーを飲みませんか。and (一緒に)映画見ませんか。
The first one sound too imposing for me. But, it won’t be bad if ‘yo’ was removed and ‘boku’ was used instead of ‘ore.’ I would’nt go far saying the second one as I may not only get a slap but also be dumped forever. OTL
sabihin mo, “suki desu…” sabay wink. gets na nya yun. hahahahaha :p
hey aldrin!! wala lang. napadaan lang kasi nakalink sa YM mo
そうですね。well, i just wanted to know what goes next after saying that i like her.
